History of Curl Troy

During the 2010 Winter Olympics curling as a sport began to gain popularity in the United State as is usual during the winter Olympiads. A group of Troy residents gained a vision to bring curling to the Troy area and make it accessible to those in the Miami Valley. Starting with no equipment and funding they had a long road ahead of them.  
 
February 2010 - Interested parties began doing research on how to get started.
 
March 2010 - www.curltroy.org was released and Curl Troy began to officially accept applications from those interested in curling in the Miami Valley
 
March 26, 2010 - Initial board of directors selected, Articles of Incorporation approved and submitted to State of Ohio
 
April 10, 2010 - First learn to curl clinic sign ups appeared on the website scheduled for June 13 and 20, 2010 at Hobart Arena
 
June 10, 2010 - For the first time ever curling markings were installed on the ice at Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio.
                          Curl Troy acquired borrowed stones from Great Lakes Curling Association, care of Indian Hills Winter Club for its first sessions.
 
June 13, 2010 - Curl Troy hosted its first ever learn to curl sessions where over 25 people got their first taste of curling in the Miami Valley
 
August 20, 2010 - Curl Troy was officially accepted into the Great Lakes Curling Association at their Summer meeting in Ft. Wayne Indiana
